The PTSB Lite – Train Hard and Train Anywhere

Portable barricades can enhance your training by simulating real-world shooting situations.
 

In the world of firearm training and practice, cover is an element often discussed but rarely trained. It’s not because training to use cover is tough to do, but because the logistics around practicing with cover is tough. PTS Barricades changed the game with the PTSB Lite. Logistics be darned because the PTSB Lite makes training with cover easy. Concealed carriers training with barriers are utilizing real-world, extremely valuable skills that could save lives. I present you five reasons why PTS Barricades are for you.

The PTSB Lite Creates a Dynamic Training Environment

The PTSB Lite utilizes a 16 x 30-inch barrier complete with four barricade ports placed at varying heights. These ports challenge shooters to conform to various positions at various heights. The PTSB Lite effectively replicates the unpredictability of real-world locations. Cover is rarely the perfect size, and you should train for those crappy situations where cover sucks.

The small size of the PTSB Lite allows shooters to position the barrier at various heights. Work the standing, kneeling, low kneeling, and any height in between. You should be practicing using cover at a wide variety of heights and in a variety of positions.

PTS Barricade Can Be Used Anywhere

We train in a wide variety of environments. A lot of us use indoor ranges, some of us shoot outdoors, and all of us should be dry-firing at home. Well, guess what? The PTSB Lite can be used in all of those environments. You can set it up at your indoor range, at an outdoor range, and on your kitchen table.

Use it to complete the MPTC qualification course at home or the range. Get after it, and use the PTSB Lite to challenge yourself to do something different.

The PTSB Lite is Small and Convenient

At 2.7 pounds and with its folding design, the PTSB Lite can be easily transported and stored with ease. Seriously, the corrugated plastic barricade folds downwards for easy and convenient storage. It fits in my large Blackhawk range bag with ease and packs away in my shooting closet with no argument.

I whip it out when needed without annoying my lovely lady and put it away with ease when I’m all done dry firing.

It’s Affordable!

A standard PTSB Lite costs a little more than 60 bucks. That’s it. My electronic hearing protection costs more than this barricade. Heck, in 2021, ammo prices it’s one box of 9mm. With that in mind, I’ve used it for a wide variety of dry fire training drills. Using the barricade, I train my concealed carry and handgun skills in my kitchen.

A box of ammo gives me 50 rounds of 9mm, and that’s a half-hour at most of range training. For nearly the same price of that box of ammunition, I can get hours of training with the PTSB Lite.

Safe to Use

I love dry fire, but live fire gives you a better training experience. When it comes to live fire, the corrugated plastic design is superbly safe for training. Let’s say I draw, get my sights on target, but forget to compensate for height over bore, and shoot the edge of my PTSB Lite. Well, so what?

The bullet safely passes through the plastic with little damage to the barrier and no risk for me. Wood barriers can splinter and break, sending debris flying. No such thing happens when corrugated plastic takes a round of 9mm.

Train For Cover

Cover saves lives. In my time in the Marines, my squad leader drilled us on using every edge of cover possible, from micro cover into the terrain to shin high walls. Cling to cover because cover saves lives. As concealed carriers, we should have the same reverence for cover. Using cover is one part of the equation, but being trained to use it efficiently is the other part. The PTSB Lite allows you to train anywhere, at any time, and you can do so safely and on the cheap. It’s also small enough not to annoy your significant other!
